She was left devastated last month when her relationship with fellow actor Michael Sheen ended after two years.
So Rachel McAdams has reportedly been relying on the help and comfort of her friends to help her through this difficult time.
'Less than impressed': Eva Mendes is said to be unhappy about Rachel's calls to her boyfriend Ryan Gosling after the actress' split from Michael Sheen.
According to reports, Rachel has been regularly phoning Ryan Gosling, with whom she was in a long-term relationship for two years, since splitting from Sheen - a fact which has left Eva Mendes, Gosling's girlfriend of 18-months, less than impressed.
A source told Britain's Now magazine: 'Rachel's always kept in touch with Ryan, but now that she's split with Michael, she's been calling him and using him as a shoulder to cry on,' reveals a mutual pal.
'It hasn't gone down very well with Eva, to say the least, but Ryan wants to be there as a friend for his ex.'
Rachel cut something of a lonely figure as she stepped out solo in Boston, Massachusetts, over the weekend.
Wearing jeans and a fur-trimmed denim jacket with a grey T-shirt, Rachel kept her eyes hidden behind a pair of sunglasses as she waited for a car.
Rachel and Ryan, who also starred together in romance movie The Notebook, dated for two years from 2005 to 2007, before reconciling briefly again in 2008.
Following the end of their relationship, the pair have remained friends, with Ryan even describing the actress as 'one of the great loves of my life'.
