One Direction star Niall Horan was left disappointed when he decided to finally take the plunge and get a tattoo.

The heart-throb claims that a tattoo artist in Los Angeles refused to ink his bum because it was "too squidgy".

In an interview with teen magazine We Love Pop - who today voted him the world's most desirable man - Niall confessed that he wanted to get a tribute to his home country of Ireland on his body but the plan was scuppered thanks to his not so pert posterior.

He said: "Harry and Zayn are really going at it, aren't they? Harry seems to have a different one every day.

"I did actually decide to get Made in Ireland in green....I went to this place in LA but they wouldn't do it.

"They said, 'The skin is too squidgy. It needs to be tight'."

However Niall isn't bitter over the experience - and thinks they did him a favor by putting a halt to the session.
