Flo Rida stopped by On Air with Ryan Seacrest to talk about his latest single “How I Feel,” yet another epic party anthem.
The description, he tells us, “definitely was the anticipation [with making this song.]” Flo explains his decision to make the track, which samples from Nina Simone‘s classic hit “Feeling Good,” stems from being a big fan of the icon.
“I love listening to that instrumental,” Flo expresses. “Going into each album, the initial record that I always put out, I always like it to show my growth. And just thinking back to the times when ["Feeling Good"] was actually created, you know you had the big bands and everything, and I actually shot the video and the theme is the whole scene and time and era … It was crazy, we went to Planet Hollywood [in Las Vegas] and it was this whole Rat Pack thing.”
And if you haven’t noticed before, Flo Rida might be one of the only rappers who both parents and kids can enjoy.
“I love watching the fans smile and I get a great report from the parents that they can play the music around themselves as well as their kids.”
So why has Flo Rida opted to not be explicit?
“Initially having been a rapper, you know, I always thought about if my mom gets a hold of a tape that has profanity that wouldn’t be great, so since I’ve been successful with this, I want to keep it up.”
“How I Feel” is Flo’s first single off his upcoming album The Perfect 10, which features everyone from Carly Rae Jepsen and Pitbull, to even Future.
Flo describes his fifth studio album as “the prefect creation of records. [There are] 10 records on the album so far … [And] all in all, I want to feel I put my max effort in this album.”
